Operating cost analysis

In order to keep the fuel costs of a boiler system as low as possible, the annual efficiency achieved in practice is important. In order to make statements about the total running costs, the electrical energy costs of the fans and pumps, the costs of waste water and water supply, and finally the expenses for operating, maintenance and testing costs must also be taken into account.

The following topics should be considered for an overall assessment:

• The energy and material balance of the boiler
• The energy and material balance of the entire system, including water treatment, all pipes and all consumers
• Maintenance and operational influences on the system
• Optimisation options by combining with other technologies, such as heat pumps, combined heat and power or solar heat

Factors influencing the overall assessment of the running costs of a hot water boiler system
